FALL
Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord's return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.
James 5:7-8 (NLT)

THE WHY
African American women disproportionately experience the incarceration of family members, and the findings demonstrate that this experience is detrimental to mental health. Though social roles variably provide social, psychological, and economic resources to cope with familial incarceration, results show that the mental health costs of incarceration are generally consistent across role combinations. The expansive criminal justice system holds large implications for the well-being of populations at the intersection of race, gender, and social roles.

On July 23 we hosted the Mental Illness Awareness (MIA) Block Party in Cincinnati, OH. We had amazing speakers, along with food, music, a basketball contest, and giveaways. The discussions centered around incarceration and how it can trigger and worsen symptoms of mental illness and how those effects can last long after someone leaves the prison gates. We listened to a dynamic presentation on the importance of obtaining certification in Mental Health First Aid Training. Mental illness is real and we never know when and where we can help someone. On October 8 we hosted the Faith Freedom Life Inaugural Fundraiser Banquet celebrating two years of service to families of the incarcerated and the community. We'd like to thank our premier donor, Karen Givens of Kare 'N' Cleaning Services LLC. The Emcee for the evening was Ashley Kirklen of WLWT Channel 5 News. The Keynote Speaker, Lucretia Bowman, VP of Recovery Services at City Gospel Mission, shared her story and gave a phenomenal word of encouragement and empowerment to inspire us as we move forward in service to YOU. The evening was a success and a God given miracle because of your overwhelming generosity and support. Check out the Faith Freedom Life Facebook and IG pages for more pictures and videos.
